The OCR GCSE Music (9-1) Areas of Study Listening Quiz provides both an ideal introduction for Year 10's or as a valuable revision aid for Year 11's.  Featuring music taken from across all four Areas of Study 2-5: The Concerto through Time, Rhythms of the World, Film Music and Conventions of Pop, the 20-slide PowerPoint Presentation contains embedded audio extracts which are also available on a single linked MP3 file, with question announcements.
 
For each extract, pupils first identify which Area of Study the music is likely to come from.  Next, they analyse which type/style/genre the music matches, from within the Area of Study.  Finally, there are some Bonus Questions which relate to the Elements of Music and are designed to get pupils Critically Engaged in Listening and Appraising.
 
A full set of Answers/Mark Scheme is provided to accompany the resource which can also be used as a GCSE music cover or revision lesson for Year 10 and Year 11's by a non-specialist music teacher.  The MP3 file lasts 25 minutes in length when played continuously.
