Christmas Carols Keyboard Skills Volume 2 from Musical Contexts contains treble clef melody line arrangements of 10 well-known Christmas Carols.

Each carol is presented in four differentiated ways: (see sample image)

  • treble clef single line staff notation and chords
  • treble clef single line staff notation with fingering and chords
  • treble clef single line staff notation with note names and chords
  • treble clef single line staff notation with fingering, note names and chords

The most complex Key Signatures within volumes 1 and 2 are two sharps and one flat and the arrangements use Simple and Compound Time Signatures, several with anacrusis starts/upbeats.  Each carol contains dynamic markings, some with changes in dynamics, and a tempo or performance direction and some contain legato slurs and repeat markings to encourage effective performance technique.

Chords can be used as a Stretch and Challenge task and performed either as triads, using the "single finger" chord function found on several keyboards or on guitars or ukuleles, or any other suitable instrument as an accompaniment.

Christmas Carols Keyboard Skills Volumes 1 and 2 are flexible, practical and invaluable Christmas music resources that can be used year after year.  You could include arrangements within a "Keyboard Skills" unit, set one or more arrangements as practical Christmas keyboard cover work, or use arrangements as part of a "Christmas Keyboard Challenge" over one or more music lessons on the busy approach to Christmas.

Christmas Carols Keyboard Skills Volume 2 contains 40 scores and is available to download upon purchase as a ZIP file containing the separate Christmas Carol arrangements as .pdf files: ideal for 'print, play and go!'
